WOMEN: 11 Ways To Know You Are Dating A REAL MAN And Not A Boy

1. A man knows what he wants, and goes for it. A boy may have somewhat of an idea, but not really. He doesn’t think too much about it, and even if he does, doesn’t exert much effort to get it. A boy is passive, a man is assertive.

2. A man plans for his future and is working towards building a foundation and infrastructure in order to have a family (at some point in his life). A boy lives only in the moment and his plans are mostly around which bar he’s going to hit up on the weekend.

3.A man looks for a woman with intelligence, who is supportive, grounded and encompasses a shared set of values when choosing a partner. A boy cares mostly only for girls who are hot, wild and exciting.

4. A man knows a good woman when he meets one and will take initiative to get to know her. A boy may make an attempt if you’re lucky, but gives up before ever really trying.

5. A man has the courage to have uncomfortable conversations. He is honest with his intentions and lets people know where they stand. A boy avoids. He ignores confrontation or any serious talks about feelings. Instead of dealing with a situation, he runs away from it or creates drama or excuses to mask the fact he’s not that into you or a relationship.

6. A man knows when to invest in a woman and jump in with two feet. A boy is always “testing” – he doesn’t fully commit because he never knows if he is quite ready. But the truth is, because he is a boy, regardless of who he meets, he will never be ready due to the stage of life he is in.

7. A man knows how to have a good time and be social, but is often busy making strides in his career and building his life. A boy is getting drunk with his buddies at the bar every weekend.

8. A man takes the time to reflect on the type of man he wants to be, the example he wants to leave and the vision for his life. He has put thought into his values. A boy has not established his moral compass or values and consequently, is often inconsistent.

9. A man has integrity. He means what he says, and says what he means. He has follow through and actions his promises. And if he can’t he has the guts to tell you why. A boy makes promises but doesn’t follow through.

10. A man is afraid of rejection but will put himself out there anyway. A boy is afraid of rejection and acts passive so that his pride and ego won’t ever get too banged up.

Now, a lot of these differences require taking the time to know someone to figure out if the apple of your eye is indeed a man, or a mere boy. However, one of the quickest filters that you can notice from the beginning is this:

11. A boy plays games. A man doesn't.

PHOTO: $1.6 million gold toilet paper for sale…

How about using a gold toilet paper worth S$1.6 million

Well, an Australian company Toilet Paper Man has produced a 3-ply roll made of gold and embellished with 22-carat gold flakes, reports plushasia.com

On their website, the company claims that this golden toiletry is “the most expensive toilet paper…” at a whooping AU$1,376,900.00.
Toilet Paper Man also claims that it is ‘100 per cent usable and safe’. According to news site International Business Times, the lavish roll of toilet paper even comes with a bottle of champagne with the purchase.

Currently, the Australia online company, has only one such golden toilet roll in stock. It is unclear if Toilet Paper Man will be manufacturing more. However, this is not the first luxury toiletry.

In 2011, a golden toilet was unveiled in Haikou, China which was made at a cost of 1.28 million yuan (S$260,000). Frances Perraudin from US magazine Time’s online site claims that the most expensive toilet hails from Hong Kong. A 24-carat gold toilet built in 2001, with gold covering everything in the restroom, even its sink, reported Perraudin. And was worth then a US$29 million (S$36 million).

A MUST READ...True life story of myself and a pregnant friend

Sometime ago, precisely in 2010 there was this girl working in my brother's hotel, name withheld. We became very close friends with time and shared very many secrets together, i almost dated her at a time but our closeness never allowed it happen because we where almost like brother and sister so she started dating this customer that was so all over her and she told me about it, i gave her one or two tips i had about the guy, after months on the relationship then came this guy from Spain who came to lodge with us, this guy spent about a month with us and i was very suspicious of both my friend and the guy, i asked her to find out what was going on but she lied that nothing was between them but i never knew that this girl will close of from her duties in the night and sneak into the guy's room. After a month of hide and seek the guy traveled back to Spain and this girl became pregnant, i was the first to find out and she said her boyfriend was responsible, we called the guy and i followed her to inform the guy of the news and the guy wanted her to abort the baby but the girl refused and said she was going to have the baby, i thought it was the right thing to do but i never knew that this girl was hoping to keep the baby because the rightful father lives in Europe and was rich, after so much persistence the boyfriend agreed to take responsibility of the unborn child and the girl later moved in with him and she stopped working with us, i lost contact with her for a very long time.

After about a year + she called and wanted to visit me and i was very happy to see her because is has been a long time we last saw, after talking for about 2 to 3 hours she opened up why she had come to see me, she said she was living with the wrong father of the child she was holding and she told me all that happened with her and the guy from Spain that the Spain guy was responsible, i was very shocked and she was crying, she said all she wanted from her boyfriend was shelter for sometime until she was able to contact the guy from Spain and tell him of the news but she became stoke with the boyfriend because she was unable to get any means of communication with they guy from Spain so she had no place else to go so the need for her to remain with the boyfriend, i was so dumbfounded to the extend that for some minutes i couldn't say a word because this was what i thought only happen in movies and i was seeing it live, so my question was what do you want to do now and she said she was from a poor home and she wanted her child to have a good life unlike her so that was why she deliberately got pregnant for the guy from Spain and i was angry with her at first but i later calmed down because she wanted my help as i was the first and the only person she had and was telling this to.

I offered to help her locate the guy from Spain because i knew some of his friends that came visiting him when he was a guest with us, so i set out to look for them and i saw one of them about 2 weeks later, i told him what i had heard and he said he was aware of the affair and offered to help located the guy's family house so that we can go tell them, he said if the family can be informed the guy will be informed too wherever he was. So i called the girl and told her of the news and she was So happy, i arranged a meeting between her and the guy's friend and he followed her and showed her the house, i decided not to go with her because i didn't want to be caught in the middle of it all so she went alone and after the meeting with they guy's parents she came crying because those people rejected her and called her names, they said she didn't come looking for them at first and that she went and stay with another man and they said as "binis" it was an abomination so she and the child was rejected, don't forget that at this time the boyfriend was still not aware of what was going on because i decided to keep quite and help her out.

She can back and told me all that had happened and i told her to see the bright side of it all that the most important thing was that the family is now aware that the guy also will be aware sooner or later so she went back home to her boyfriend who was still taking care of both her and the child, this happened for almost another year or so and last year she called and was crying, she said the boyfriend had found out that he was not the father of the child, how come i asked and she said the baby became ill and on getting to the hospital he needed blood and after checking the man's blood they found out that he was not the father of the child then she had to run for her life and that she had relocated to the village to stay with her parents and that her parents where not even giving her a safe landing too as they where ashamed of her and that they want her out, so i advised her to go back to the rightful father's family house so that they know she was serious and that if need be that she should offer to leave their child with them and walk away for the benefit of the child because i knew she was not capable of taking care of that child on her own, instead she went there and was demanding for the opposite, it wasn't too long i realised what she was doing, i realised she wasn't concerned about the family's acceptance of the child, she want to be accepted as well so she is using the child as a bait to get the guy who lives in Spain, she dreams that one day he will come back and marry her, i got annoyed and hated being used so i abandoned her on it as well.

She called me some few weeks back and told me she is still in the village with the child.

Why did i put this into writing? You know sometimes we have to keep people's secrets, good or bad, is it okay to keep those secrets when we know someone else is suffering because of it? Was i playing a good friend and a bad person the same time? should i have informed the boyfriend that the baby was not his? How will you rate my contribution in this story. All said, sometimes i think about it and i am happy the truth is finally out.

How to lose weight

More than one-third of adults in the United States are obese. In fact, the furor over obesity, which some have termed an “epidemic,” has reached such proportions that one big-city mayor has gone about banning large-sized, sugary soft drinks and the First Lady has been on a crusade to control the dietary offerings in public schools.

Even many adults who do not fit the clinic definition of obese are still overweight, and a large percentage are looking for the best ways to lose weight.

Shedding pounds largely comes down to the two-pronged factors of diet and exercise. Not modifying the first one enough, and not getting enough of the second one, ends up giving the individual a recipe for being overweight.

Conditions related to obesity include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Counseling someone to eat less and exercise more might be the simplest advice possible, but it’s also, partially, an oversimplification. When it comes to diet, no one needs to starve themselves in order to lose weight. It has more to do with the types of food you eat than how much you eat.

Reduce the amount of red meat in your diet. If you don’t want to eliminate red meat altogether, choose cuts of meat with less fat content. Limit your intake of salt and starches. If you’ve got to have potato chips alongside your sandwich at lunch, opt for the baked potato chips that are less greasy and contain less fat than the deep-fried chips. You might find you’re really not sacrificing that much in terms of taste.

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, egg whites, skinless poultry, fish and nonfat dairy products will certainly aid in the mission of losing weight. Drink more water and less sugary drinks. If you have to have a soda, a diet soda is a better option, but seltzer is an even better choice than that.

In terms of exercise, it’s important—if not always easy—to make sure you get at least some physical activity each and every day. Cardio and strength training burn lots of calories. If your feet or your stamina level won’t allow for a regular jogging regimen, then make sure you take lots of walks. Next time you need to mail a letter, walk to the mailbox instead of driving. Try to work in a daily walk in your neighborhood. And if you intend on more rigorous, formal exercising at the gym or fitness center, be sure to pace yourself and don’t build up to an overly ambitious workout agenda too quickly.

There are thousands of diet fads among us.  However, sometimes the best advice is common sense.  Work towards a healthy diet and integrate regular exercise.  You would be surprised at the results small changes can make.

Where are Africa's great leaders?

By Global Public Square staff

The world has welcomed another batch of Nobel Laureates for accomplishments in the sciences, literature, and global peace. But there is another prize, perhaps just as important, for which there was no winner.

We are talking about the Mo Ibrahim Prize, established by the Sudanese billionaire Mo Ibrahim. The criteria for winning are listed publicly on the prize website: You need to be a democratically elected African head of state that has left office in the last three years, and demonstrated excellent leadership. If you meet the criteria, you get a $5 million award, plus an annual pension of $200,000 that kicks in after a decade.

The point, of course, is to provide a financial incentive for African leaders to shun corruption. And yet, for the fourth time in its seven year history, the awards committee was unable to find a winner from any of Africa's 50-plus countries. Bravo to the Ibrahim prize for holding high standards, even if that means no grand ceremony.

So what happened? Well, for starters, presidents and prime ministers need to actually step down. Africa's leaders are locked in a marathon to see who can reign longest. The leaders of Equatorial Guinea and Angola have been in power for 34 years. Zimbabwe and Cameroon have had the same men in charge for 33 and 30 years respectively. These and a number of other African states are nominal democracies, but they are essentially run by dictators. Elections, if they're held at all, tend to be a sham, pockmarked by intimidation, fraud, and violence.

A number of indicators highlight the region's crisis of governance. On Freedom House's global map of freedom, Africa is the region with the highest number of countries listed “not free.” On Transparency International's Corruption Index, most African states are shaded red, denoting graft, instead of yellow, for least corrupt.

Now alongside all of these dismal rankings lie a set of numbers singing a very different tune. Six of the world's ten fastest growing economies from 2001 to 2010 were African. According to Ventures Africa, the continent now has 55 billionaires. Great strides have been made in creating wealth and expanding development. There have been advances in education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.

So, despite all of these gains, why is Africa so far behind on good governance?

There are, of course, a number of decades-old factors in play, but one of them is new, and strikes us as an interesting one to highlight: China.

For decades, NGO’s and Western countries have tied aid money and trade to promises for greater transparency among Africa’s countries. But China has upended the system. Beijing is known to give aid and sign trade deals with no strings attached. Instead, its priority is to extract commodities at the best possible price. And that, in turn, has led to the commodities boom which has fuelled growth in Africa.

According to a New York University study, trade between China and Africa has risen from $10 billion in 2000 to $166 billion in 2011, a 16-fold increase. China is now Africa's largest trade partner. And as we reported last week, China's total aid budget has surged as well, from $1.7 billion in 2001, to more than $189 billion in 2011. A substantial chunk of that aide goes to Africa.

In the short term, Africa's leaders may rejoice at having struck a good deal. They no longer need to listen to Western criticism because China and other countries, like Brazil and India, are willing to trade, no-strings attached.

But Africa's dictators should beware. All they need to do is look north, to the Arab world, and they will see what happens when leaders suppress freedom and stick around too long. Meanwhile, Africa's young population – and it is huge – is getting smarter, more connected, and perhaps more likely, eventually, to rebel against repression.

Yemeni girl, 15, 'burned to death by father'

(CNN) -- A 15-year-old Yemeni girl was burned to death by her father for "communicating with her fiance," according to Yemen's Interior Ministry.

The father, a 35-year-old man, was arrested Tuesday in a village in Taiz Province. The statement did not clarify when the girl was killed.

The case, which activists are calling an honor crime, is once again highlighting the plight of young girls in Yemen, where child marriages and honor killings still happen.

According to Human Rights Watch, more than half of all females in Yemen are married off before the age of 18.

Leading child rights advocate Ahmed Al-Qureshi confirmed to CNN his organization, Seyaj, had been asked to investigate the incident, one he considered an "honor killing."

Honor killings are a problem in Yemen, a deeply tribal and conservative country, Al-Qureshi said. "Most incidents of honor killing take place in rural areas where tribal law is applied."

"The government needs to deal with honor killing seriously," Ali Al-Bahri, a human rights activist, told CNN. Al-Bahri added that most honor killings in Yemen go unreported, "and suspects are never punished."

"Tribal culture and lack of government awareness campaigns are key to the continuous spread of honor killings," said Al-Bahri.

A written statement on the Interior Ministry's website said police had told the ministry that "the father committed this heinous crime against his daughter under the pretext that she was communicating with her fiancee."

Ukrainian boxer Vitali Klitschko to run for president

(CNN) -- A Ukrainian boxer known as "Dr. Ironfist" announced Thursday he plans to run for the country's presidency in 2015, the state-run Ukrinform News Agency reported.

"I want to say that I cannot be intimidated or stopped," Vitali Klitschko, 42, said from the Ukrainian parliament rostrum in the capital city of Kiev. "In order to put an end to various attempts to get rid of me as a possible candidate, I want to say that I'm running for president."

He added: "I have a residence permit in Germany, but this doesn't violate the Ukrainian legislation, and I've always been a citizen of Ukraine."

In addition to having amassed a professional record of 47 wins (41 by knockout) and two losses, the 6-foot, 7½-inch heavyweight is the leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform party.

According to Klitschko's website, he won the World Boxing Organization's world heavyweight title in 1999 by knocking out Herbie Hide in round 2, and -- following in the steps of Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis -- has won a heavyweight belt three times.

He has run twice for mayor of Kiev, holds a master's degree in social development, a doctorate in sport science, is married and has three children.

Scientists find gold growing in trees in Australia

(CNN) -- Parents beware: You're about to have one less idiom in your repertoire. Scientists in Australia have discovered gold deposits on eucalyptus trees in the Outback.

Yes, you read that right -- money can actually "grow" on trees.

While it's not new that plants and trees absorb minerals such as gold through their leaves, scientists had previously been unable to prove that the minerals in question came from deeper underground and not from surface soil deposits. The paper's authors hope that their findings will turn into a trusted form of gold prospecting.

According to the paper, eucalyptus and acacia trees, such as the ones studied at the Freddo and Barns Gold prospects in Western and South Australia respectively, have deep and extensive root systems. In times of drought, their roots dig deep in search of water. So deep, in fact, that some trees have literally struck gold.

The findings, which were published this week in the online journal Nature Communications, show how biogeochemical absorption of gold is possible. This, according to the researchers, could lead to new and more successful prospecting methods.

Now before you grab your passport and ax, the paper found an average gold concentration of 80 parts per billion in tree's leaves, and a mere 4 parts per billion in bark (though bark does cover a larger surface area). Unfortunately, this means the gold isn't visible to the naked eye.

So the next time someone tells you money doesn't grow on trees, well, you know what to say.

10 Most Corrupt Countries in the World

Everybody despairs at corruption in government, and it’s unsettling to see how prevalent and deep it runs. While some countries enjoy high levels of freedom and transparency, others are cloaked in secrecy to hide incidents of embezzlement, nepotism, and violence. Some of the countries on this list are dictatorships; others try to put on the pretense of democracy and fail dismally. The following countries are scored on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean) on the 2012 Corruption Perception Index, created by Transparency International. Although no country had a perfect score, more than half scored below 50, indicating an endemic problem with corruption worldwide.

Haiti – 10

Venezuela – 9
Iraq – 8
Turkmenistan – 7
Uzbekistan – 6
Myanmar – 5
Sudan – 4
Afghanistan – 3
North Korea – 2
Somalia – 1

ASUU strike ‘ll be over in few months – Wike

Minister of State for Eduction, Barrister Esenwo Nyesom Wike

The Federal Government, yesterday, assured Nigerian students that the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, would be over in a few months.

The Minister of Education, Mr Nyesom Wike stated this at the anniversary lecture of National Universities Commission, NUC, in Abuja.

The minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Macjohn Nwaobiala, reiterated Federal Government commitment in resolving the ongoing strike of ASUU.

Minister of State for Eduction, Barrister Esenwo Nyesom Wike
According to Wike, “The Federal Government is very concerned about the state of public tertiary institutions in the country. The Federal Government is really worried about the ongoing strike of ASUU and the strike would be resolved in a few months.”

Professor John Daniel in his paper presentation titled, ‘Turbulent and Testing Times for Global Higher Education: Lessons for Nigeria’, said “online teaching and learning is now part of the future of most universities. Nigeria should be very good at this because without embarrassing you by pressing the point, I note that your country, through 419 scams, is a world leader in the use of the internet for less desirable purposes.”

He said higher education all over the world is facing lot of challenges that included youth unemployment and the current changes in the university system.

“These are indeed turbulent times, not only for United States of America but also for much of higher education globally”, he said.

A former Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Jubril Munzali, in his goodwill message, said the education sector for 21 years have been under funded and the significant increase in the funding of tertiary institutions were done through the struggle of ASUU.

He blamed the Federal Government lingering crisis rocking the nation’s university system.

He said it is time Federal Government listened to its agencies and allow NUC perform its statutory role and fund universities based on the advice of its agencies like NUC.

“Successive administrations in the country never paid adequate attention to university education”. He said the Federal Government process of direct funding of universities, have over the years resulted in mismanagement of the funds allocated to the institutions.

Police stop ASUU rally in Bayelsa

Meanwhile, the police authorities in Bayelsa State, yesterday, stopped the planned public protest by lecturers of the state owned Niger Delta University, NDU, Amassoma in the prolonged strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The police order, issued against the planned public procession by the ASUU, NDU chapter, was reportedly signed by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hillary Okpara.

But the undaunted lecturers converged at the Yenagoa campus of the university to stage solidarity rally and also held a prayer session to seek the face of God over the lingering crisis.

Turkey Man Opens First Online S*x Shop For Muslims Only

A first online sex shop for Muslims was recently launched in Turkey, where a variety of sex items, such as lubricants or herbal aphrodisiacs, is available; also, the shop offers advice on how to have 'halal' sex.

Haluk Murat Demirel, a 38-year-old Turkish entrepreneur says the idea of the shop was inspired by his friends who would often complain the content on such websites and in special stores is too explicit.

Demirel explains pornographic images make Muslims uncomfortable, and vibrators "are not approved by Islam". The site provides information on which sexual practices are banned by Islam, and which are not.

The website, according to its owner, has proved extremely popular since its launch a week ago, and had drawn over 30,000 visitors on Sunday alone.

Turkey is a majority Muslim but constitutionally secular country, and there are relatively few sex shops, even in major cities. Last year Islamic conservative Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested the existing shops rename themselves "love shops."

Catholic Nun Kills Her Newborn Baby In The Seminary

A woman studying to become a Catholic nun has been charged in the District of Columbia with smothering her newborn son, police said.

The woman, 26-year-old Sosefina Amoa, gave birth to the boy Oct. 10 in her room at the Little Sisters of the Poor elderly care facility, police said. Afraid the nuns would hear the newborn's cries and discover she lied about sexual activity, police say Amoa told investigators she smothered him by placing a wool garment over the child's mouth and nose and applying pressure.

A day later she and a nun took his body, in a small black luggage bag, to a hospital, police said.

Investigators interviewed Amoa after she arrived at the hospital and say they found bloody clothing and small traces of blood during a search of the convent room where she had been staying.

Amoa was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder after the death was ruled a homicide by asphyxiation. Her attorney declined to comment on the case Friday.

The order said in a statement that they are praying for everyone involved.

"We all feel that this is a tragic situation," said Sister Constance Veit, communications director at Little Sisters of the Poor.

Amoa arrived from the island of Samoa on Oct. 5 and was considered a postulant, someone who wants to be admitted to the order.

She initially told investigators that she did not know she was pregnant but that she experienced significant bleeding just prior to delivering the baby, whom she named Joseph.

She later said she had not told the convent about her past sexual activity and that after the child stopped breathing, she contemplated putting it in the trash but decided against it, police said.

Police say they interviewed a nun at the convent who said Amoa showed her the child and initially told her that she had found the body outside. The nun says Amoa later told her that she had given birth to the child, and police say the two of them together took the body to the hospital.

Man Arrested In Anambra State For Killing His Mother For Money Rituals

Detectives attached to the Obosi Police Division in Anambra State have arrested a man, Tonna Enedo from the Umuezeshime royal family in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, for allegedly killing his mother.

Enedo spoke yesterday on why he killed his mother.

He blamed the incident on his quest to make money at all cost, adding that he was lured into a fraternity.

He said he has slept in the mortuary for seven hours as part of the money-making rituals.

Tonna said: “I was asked by the chief priest of the society that if I wanted to be rich, I should go and have fun with a mad woman. I should also go and sleep with a body for seven hours; I should fast for seven days dry; I was told that I would first kill my father and the last stage is that I will go mad and after I might have completed all the condition, I will become the richest man in Africa, if not in the whole world.”

He said he met all other conditions and was planning to kill his father when he mistakenly killed his mother.

He said it was after he hit a metal on her head that he realized he had killed the woman he loved most.

Tonna is a first-born from a divorced home. The parents divorced in 1984. He behaved like a mentally-challenged person in and around Obosi before the incident.

ASUU to meet over strike, says not under pressure

THE National Strike Coordinating Committee, NSCC, comprising of principal officers and Zonal Coordinators of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU will be meeting Saturday to take stock of the ongoing strike embarked by the union that is entering the fourth months.

Meantime, ASUU said that it was not under any pressure to call-off the strike despite what it called sponsored protests and rallies against the union, stressing that before the union decided to embark on the strike, it holistically took objective assessment of the situation.

One of the branch Chairmen of ASUU and member of NSCC who spoke exclusively to Saturday Vanguard on the condition of anonymity said that the meeting will take place in Ondo state and that there would be a situation report including the meeting representatives of ASUU had with the Federal government last week’s Friday.

He said,”We are meeting tomorrow, National Strike Coordinating Committee. Tomorrow is arrival. Our Principal officers and Zonal Coordinators met with government last week Friday, one week today, so we want to discus the outcome of the meeting, after that we will now meet.”

Commenting on the plethora of protests by different groups over the strike which could be mounting pressure on the union to call off the strike, he said that “There is no pressure on us. We look at things objectively and remember that even me as I am talking we cannot suspend the strike.

“We have to get inputs from the branches that is why our strike is always very tight, because before we declared the strike, we have collected inputs from all branch officers in the universities in Nigeria, we collated it, discussed it extensively for two days before we declared the strike.

“And if there is any offer made by government, we have to look at it, that is the principal officers ten of them in number, the zonal coordinators who take over functions of NEC during the strike, so, they will look at what government has offered, brief us the branch chair persons then it is at this point we will now know whether to convene an emergency NEC to look at it holistically.

“By the time they are briefing us, they will also ask us to brief our committee members and take the issue to the congress, it is not a one man show, all these ones they are talking about politics it is not true, the process right from the least of all the lecturers to the highest that is the professor from each branch, we collate all their responses, it is only when they advice us to suspend that we suspend, it is not just one man show.”

He explained that during strike situation, the National Strike Coordinating Committee comprising of principal officers and zonal coordinators always take over the functions of NEC, adding, “every single week, the zonal coordinators will take the information to the various branches who will now take the information to congress, collating information from congress, the branch chairman will take it back to the zonal coordinator, the zonal coordinator takes it back to NSCC, the reason is that NEC has the larger component, we are many.”

He said that the reason behind allowing the smaller number of officers to meet during strike situation was to cut cost.

“Why NEC cannot meet during the strike is because of cost, we are more in number. In NEC we have over 100 people, but NSCC will be between 10 and 20, so it is manageable, we have a channel of communication.”

All attempts made to call the National President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge failed as he neither picked calls put across his GSM line nor replied the text message sent to him.

See Jim Iyke's Response To People Criticising T.B Joshua

The Jim Iyke deliverance saga at the Synagogue Church of all Nations, SCOAN, raised a lot of dust online a few weeks back and till now its still been talked about.

Well, it seems like people have been tweeting at the Nollywood's bad boy, Jim telling him that T.B Joshua was fake.

The actor on Thursday replied the critics, saying he's not in the position to judge the Prophet, who was instrumental to his deliverance.

Teen sells kidney to buy iPad

Five people have been charged with intentional injury in China after a teenager sold a kidney so he could buy an iPhone and an iPad.

The government-run Xinhua news agency said the 17-year-old boy's kidney was removed last year.

The surgeon who performed the operation is among the five charged.

The boy, identified only by his surname Wang, now suffers from renal deficiency, or decreased kidney function.

According to Xinhua, one of the defendants received about 220,000 yuan (about £22,000) to arrange the transplant.

He paid Wang 22,000 yuan (£2,000) and split the rest with the surgeon, the three other defendants and other medical staff.

The report did not say who received and paid for the kidney.

The teen was from Anhui, one of China's poorest provinces, where inhabitants frequently leave to find work and a better life elsewhere.

He bought an iPhone and iPad, and when asked by his mother where he got the money, admitted selling a kidney.

Apple products are hugely popular in China, but are priced beyond the reach of many Chinese with iPhones starting at 3,988 yuan (£400), and iPads at 2,988 yuan (£300).

Only a fraction of the people who need organ transplants in China are able to get them, leading to "transplant tourism" where patients travel overseas for such operations, and turn to a black market for human organs.

Several other suspects involved in the case are still being investigated.

Bravest girl in the world; Malala Yousafzai meets Queen at Buckingham Palace reception

Malala Yousafzai, who survived an assassination attempt by the Taliban, spoke to the Queen about the importance of education when they met at Buckingham Palace on Friday.

The 16-year-old schoolgirl was shot in the head in Pakistan last October after campaigning for the right of girls to go to school without fear in a part of the country where Islamic fundamentalists were trying to impose a strict form of sharia law.

Malala was one of the guests at a reception for Commonwealth, youth and education hosted by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

She was reduced to laughter by a comment from the duke, who quipped that in this country people wanted children to go to school to get them out of the house. Malala covered her face while in a fit of giggles at his joke.

The teenager, accompanied by her father Ziauddin, gave the Queen a copy of her book, I Am Malala, during their meeting in the palace's White Drawing Room, telling her: "It is a great honour for me to be here, and I wanted to present you with this book."

Accepting the gift, the Queen replied: "That's very kind of you."

Malala told the Queen she was passionate about every child having a right to an education, everywhere around the world.

She added: "Especially in this country as well. I have heard about many children that can't go to school, and I want to continue our work."

Mr Yousafzai also spoke to the Queen and duke about their past visits to his home country.

Malala was flown from Pakistan to the UK for emergency treatment after the attack. Surgeons who treated her said she came within inches of death when the bullet grazed her brain in the attack on a school bus.

She was treated at Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham and has now settled in the city with her family. Since the attack she has addressed the United Nations and been nominated for the Nobel peace prize.

Princess Beatrice and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also present at the reception, attended by 350 guests from academic institutions around the world. It included a performance from the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra and choir.

ASUU STRIKE: FG Agrees To Spend N200 Billion Each Year To Bring Nigerian Universities Up To World Standard

In light of the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Federal Government has promised to spend N200 billion in the 2014 for the universities. Besides, a similar amount would be spent in the next three-four years until Nigerian universities are brought to world-class standard.

This is in addition to the N100 billion already disbursed for 2013.

This information is contained in an internal  statement by Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Otuoke, Professor Bolaji Aluko. The statement was seen on Wednesday night by SaharaReporters.

The FG has also increased to N40 billion as a first installment funds for the payment of earned allowances to the striking lecturers, an improvement from the N30 billion previously released.

On the earned allowances, Aluko explained that:

“Government will top it up with further releases once universities are through with the disbursement of this new figure of N40 million, so Vice-Chancellors are urged to expedite this disbursement within the shortest possible time using guiding templates that have been sent by the CVC."

Aluko also explained that this move of the FG followed the meetings held on September 19 and October 11 between the representatives of the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities led by CVC Chairman, Prof. Hamisu of ATBU and ASUU Representatives led by its President, Dr. N. Fagge with the Vice-President of Nigeria, Arc. Namadi. Sambo, Minister of Education Barr. N. Wike and others.

Of great interest to stakeholders, Vice-President Sambo, appealing to ASUU to call off the strike, apologized for the "take-it-or-leave-it" comments credited to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, at the onset of the strike.

Other points of agreement at the meetings include the following:

Project Prioritization: Universities will now be allowed to determine their priorities and not be “rail-roaded” into implementing a pre-determined set of projects with respect to the NEEDS assessment. Decisions are not to be centralized.

TETFund Intervention: Government assured that the operations of the TETFund will not be impaired, and that the regular TETFund intervention disbursement to Universities will continue, unaffected. So the NEEDS assessment capital outlays are in addition to regular TETFund intervention.

Project Monitoring: A new Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) for the NEEDS Assessment intervention for universities has been set up to take over from the Suswan Committee. The new one is under the Federal Ministry of Education and chaired by the Honorable Minister of Education. In addition, to build confidence and ensure faithful implementation and prevent any relapse as before, the Vice President will meet quarterly with the IMC to monitor progress.

Blueprint: ASUU was mandated to submit a blue print for revitalizing the Universities to the Vice President.

Aluko also stated that a signed document will soon be issued to itemize the full issues on which the consensus he had outlined here, as brokered by AVCNU, was reached.

It will be reminded, however, that seven weeks after the FG announced that it had commenced implementation of the agreement signed with the ASUU by disbursing N100 billion to 59 public universities, the affected tertiary institutions have raised alarm that they are yet to receive the fund.

ASUU has been on an indefinite strike since June 30. The lecturers protest against the FG’s failure to honour a 2009 agreement signed between it and ASUU in 2009 pertaining to issues of university funding and improvement of infrastructure in the sector.

Nigerian 11-Year-Old Girl Becomes Ambassador In Tanzania

Zuriel Oduwole, a Nigeria wonder girl advocating for education for the girl child in Africa at the age of 10 already became the youngest person ever interviewed by Forbes. Now Zuriel is 11 and she has been appointed Ambassador in Tanzania.

It was the girl's second country stop on her East African leg to launch the acclaimed Dream Up, Speak Up, Stand Up program, aimed at inspiring and motivating Africa’s girls.

When the girl's plane landed, she was welcomed by senior officials of the Tanzanian State House, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Education
On the first day Zuriel visited one of the oldest academic institutions in Dar Es Salaam, the Olympio School.

In the afternoon of October 11th, the day designated by the UN to celebrating the Girl Child, she attended the United Nations UNFPA event in Dar Es Salaam, which focused on reducing the incidence of child marriage in Tanzania.

She later gave exclusive interview to the national ITV network.

Her stay, rich in events, was followed by formal invitation by the First Lady to the State House.

Madam Salma Kikwete praised Zuriel for attracting attention to the issues of girls education to several African leaders.

It is important to mention that Zuriel has interviewed at least nine African leaders, including the Tanzanian head of state.

First Lady then formally appointed her an Ambassador for the largest foundation in Tanzania focused on gender issues – Wanawake na Maendeleo Foundation [WAMA] of which she is the founding Patron.

Mrs. Kikwete then presented Zuriel with several gifts and an intricate three-foot statue of unity, the same type presented to the US President, to symbolize the effect of Zuriel’s programs in the lives of Africa’s young women.

Do You Want To Be Successful? Then You Must Have These 7 Traits!

1. BE AMBITIOUS
To make it big in life, you need to also dream big. One of the characteristics of successful people is that they don’t restrict themselves with limits to what they can achieve. Ambition partners with creativity, with successful people choosing to think outside the box of what is possible.

2. TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH
Once you have your ideas the next step is having the courage to follow through with them. It’s all very well saying that you want to get into shape, but do you really have the guts to sign yourself up to run a marathon? Successful people often thrive on achieving their goals; they feel the fear of the challenge and nether the less go after it. They do not hesitate before taking a risk, but instead choose to take a leap of faith.

3. FACE YOUR FEARS
The familiar saying that “our only limits are the ones we place upon ourselves” could not be more apt. We all get scared sometimes, but having the courage to face our fears sets the weak from the chaff. One example of a common fear is public speaking. Talking in front of people can seem both daunting and nerve wrecking, successful people acknowledge this fear, yet get up and give a speech anyway. Having the confidence to stand out from the crowd will enable you achieve great things.

4. BE RESILIENT
Resilience is a critical characteristic of a successful person. We all have setbacks and grey days, but successful people choose not to dwell on their problems. People who choose to fight back when the going gets tough are able to persevere no matter what. Financial problems, a horrible boss or relationship crisis are simply a challenge to overcome. If you want to be successful harden-up (just a little) and turn into fighter like Rocky!

5. DON’T BE AFRAID OF HARD WORK
This one is pretty straightforward really; success doesn’t come cheaply, it comes with a big spoon of hard work and often patience. The biggest and best plans don’t happen over night, they require diligence and grafting. If you want to get noticed for doing well, you need to try your best – time and time again. Don’t lie in; get up early embrace the day and see how hard you can really push yourself.

6. NETWORK
Although not 100% essential, the majority of successful people have a good network of contacts. Value and put time into developing relationships with people that might be able to enhance your career or personal interests. Now don’t misread this, I am not encouraging you to use people, just to consider that successful people see the worth in the people they meet. Whilst a work colleague might not be your new best friend, they could be the perfect partner for a project idea that you have. Take time to build your connections.

7. BE A MULTI-TASKER
Successful people tend to have multiple talents; they are active and like to have their fingers in many pies. A fine example of being a multi-tasker is millionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson. His Virgin brand is not limited to one product; his portfolio encompasses shuttles into space, flights, music and even condoms. Richard has also been seen to attempt numerous world records, made guest appearances in films and is a humanitarian activist. The message here is don’t put all your efforts into just one project; dabble in a few things that interest you that way you will simply have more chances to succeed.

If you want to be successful in life, you need to be a go-getter. You only get one chance at life, a mantra successful people are only too aware of. Don’t waste time worrying about whether you can do something, simply have a go, and remember to work hard and try your best… everything else will naturally fall into place. Which of these traits do you think most identifies a successful person?

6 Simple Tips For Reducing Your Body Odor — If You Do Not Wear Deodorant.. READ THIS!

Ever had that moment where you wonder if you smell, well, not so great? It happens. But you can make body odor go away. Try these six tips.

1. Keep Yourself Squeaky Clean

Shower at least once a day and you’ll wash away sweat as well as reduce the number of bacteria on your skin.

Sweat by itself is virtually odorless. But when microscopic bacteria that live naturally on your skin mix with sweat, they multiply quickly and raise quite a stink.

So washing thoroughly, especially areas prone to sweating, can reduce body odor.

If you sweat normally, you might have more of a problem with body odor than people who sweat too much.

That’s because, when people sweat excessively, the sweat tends to wash away the odor-causing bacteria.

2. Use Antibacterial Soap

Choose an antibacterial bath soap. Washing thoroughly with an antibacterial soap bar will reduce the bacteria count, in turn reducing the odor.

Look for the words “antibacterial” on the soap’s packaging.

3. Towel Off Thoroughly

Once you’ve showered, be sure you dry yourself completely. Towel off and make sure you dry any areas where you sweat a lot.

If your skin is dry, it’s harder for bacteria that cause body odor to breed on it.

4. Apply “Industrial Strength” Deodorants or Antiperspirants

Once you are clean and dry, use a strong deodorant or antiperspirant on your underarms.

While deodorants do not prevent sweating, they mask the smell of bacteria on your skin.

Antiperspirants contain aluminum chloride, a chemical that reduces sweating, and often also contain a deodorant.

Stronger deodorants and antiperspirants are available without a prescription.

Look for products that say on the label they are higher strength due to ingredients.

If you think you need even more help, you may want to ask your doctor about prescription antiperspirants.

Apply the deodorant or antiperspirant twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.

5. Keep Your Wardrobe Squeaky Clean

Change clothes often when you’re sweating heavily. Fresh clothes help keep body odor down.

Be sure to change your socks as well, especially if you tend to have foot odor.

Use deodorant powders in your shoes, replace insoles frequently, and go barefoot if possible.

6. Cut Out or Cut Down “Offensive” Foods

What you eat affects your body odor.

Foods that tend to make you sweat more, such as hot peppers or other spicy foods, might also contribute to body odor.

And the aroma of foods such as onions or garlic can be carried in the sweat, making you smell bad.
