Nigerians block road over murder, Indian police demands deportation

A new kind of history was created in Goa today with foreign nationals - over 150 Nigerians – staging a road blockade on a National Highway, in protest of a murder of one of their national in a coastal village of Parra, near famous Calangute beach.

The irate mob of Nigerians, who live in Parra village, also beat up some villagers earlier, alleging that the Parra villagers have killed their Nigerian colleague.

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, who is also a resident of Parra, has countered the allegation stating that the murder has occurred out of a gang war between drug dealers and the villagers are simply dragged into it.

The body of the unidentified Nigerian was found lying hardly 500 metres away from the house of Lobo, the ruling BJP legislator.

The furious Nigerians, after manhandling the villagers, chased the police jeep, blocked it at Porvorim, pulled out the dead body and staged a road blockade, keeping the dead body on the road.

The police were taking the dead body to the Goa Medical College hospital for postmortem.

While police cleared the blockade almost after one hour as it resulted into heavy traffic jam, the Nigerians then went to the Mapusa police station, demanding arrest of the murderers.

The tension created by the foreign nationals compelled chief minister Manohar Parrikar to rush to Porovorim as well as Mapusa police station to calm down the situation.

The police later detained some of the protesting Nigerians.

Lobo told goanews.com that he has spoken to Parrikar, demanding that all the Nigerians be immediately deported.

“Either they live here illegally or get involved in some petty crimes so that they cannot be deported. Some of the Nigerians are students studying in metros of India but are actually found in Goa for almost 10 months”, he said.

Besides running a drug racket, he says the young Nigerians also run a restaurant in Parra village with a local front, creating nuisance with loud music till early morning.

“Even police are scared of them. The whole police machinery as well as all the governments, including my BJP government, has failed to control the menace of these rowdy Nigerians”, Lobo told goanews.com.

He also alleged that most of the Nigerians are involved in huge quantity of Cocaine, spoiling Goans youngsters – both boys and girls.

WOMEN: 11 Ways To Know You Are Dating A REAL MAN And Not A Boy

1. A man knows what he wants, and goes for it. A boy may have somewhat of an idea, but not really. He doesn’t think too much about it, and even if he does, doesn’t exert much effort to get it. A boy is passive, a man is assertive.

2. A man plans for his future and is working towards building a foundation and infrastructure in order to have a family (at some point in his life). A boy lives only in the moment and his plans are mostly around which bar he’s going to hit up on the weekend.

3.A man looks for a woman with intelligence, who is supportive, grounded and encompasses a shared set of values when choosing a partner. A boy cares mostly only for girls who are hot, wild and exciting.

4. A man knows a good woman when he meets one and will take initiative to get to know her. A boy may make an attempt if you’re lucky, but gives up before ever really trying.

5. A man has the courage to have uncomfortable conversations. He is honest with his intentions and lets people know where they stand. A boy avoids. He ignores confrontation or any serious talks about feelings. Instead of dealing with a situation, he runs away from it or creates drama or excuses to mask the fact he’s not that into you or a relationship.

6. A man knows when to invest in a woman and jump in with two feet. A boy is always “testing” – he doesn’t fully commit because he never knows if he is quite ready. But the truth is, because he is a boy, regardless of who he meets, he will never be ready due to the stage of life he is in.

7. A man knows how to have a good time and be social, but is often busy making strides in his career and building his life. A boy is getting drunk with his buddies at the bar every weekend.

8. A man takes the time to reflect on the type of man he wants to be, the example he wants to leave and the vision for his life. He has put thought into his values. A boy has not established his moral compass or values and consequently, is often inconsistent.

9. A man has integrity. He means what he says, and says what he means. He has follow through and actions his promises. And if he can’t he has the guts to tell you why. A boy makes promises but doesn’t follow through.

10. A man is afraid of rejection but will put himself out there anyway. A boy is afraid of rejection and acts passive so that his pride and ego won’t ever get too banged up.

Now, a lot of these differences require taking the time to know someone to figure out if the apple of your eye is indeed a man, or a mere boy. However, one of the quickest filters that you can notice from the beginning is this:

11. A boy plays games. A man doesn't.

How about using a gold toilet paper worth S$1.6 million

Well, an Australian company Toilet Paper Man has produced a 3-ply roll made of gold and embellished with 22-carat gold flakes, reports plushasia.com

On their website, the company claims that this golden toiletry is “the most expensive toilet paper…” at a whooping AU$1,376,900.00.
Toilet Paper Man also claims that it is ‘100 per cent usable and safe’. According to news site International Business Times, the lavish roll of toilet paper even comes with a bottle of champagne with the purchase.

Currently, the Australia online company, has only one such golden toilet roll in stock. It is unclear if Toilet Paper Man will be manufacturing more. However, this is not the first luxury toiletry.

In 2011, a golden toilet was unveiled in Haikou, China which was made at a cost of 1.28 million yuan (S$260,000). Frances Perraudin from US magazine Time’s online site claims that the most expensive toilet hails from Hong Kong. A 24-carat gold toilet built in 2001, with gold covering everything in the restroom, even its sink, reported Perraudin. And was worth then a US$29 million (S$36 million).

A MUST READ...True life story of myself and a pregnant friend

Sometime ago, precisely in 2010 there was this girl working in my brother's hotel, name withheld. We became very close friends with time and shared very many secrets together, i almost dated her at a time but our closeness never allowed it happen because we where almost like brother and sister so she started dating this customer that was so all over her and she told me about it, i gave her one or two tips i had about the guy, after months on the relationship then came this guy from Spain who came to lodge with us, this guy spent about a month with us and i was very suspicious of both my friend and the guy, i asked her to find out what was going on but she lied that nothing was between them but i never knew that this girl will close of from her duties in the night and sneak into the guy's room. After a month of hide and seek the guy traveled back to Spain and this girl became pregnant, i was the first to find out and she said her boyfriend was responsible, we called the guy and i followed her to inform the guy of the news and the guy wanted her to abort the baby but the girl refused and said she was going to have the baby, i thought it was the right thing to do but i never knew that this girl was hoping to keep the baby because the rightful father lives in Europe and was rich, after so much persistence the boyfriend agreed to take responsibility of the unborn child and the girl later moved in with him and she stopped working with us, i lost contact with her for a very long time.

After about a year + she called and wanted to visit me and i was very happy to see her because is has been a long time we last saw, after talking for about 2 to 3 hours she opened up why she had come to see me, she said she was living with the wrong father of the child she was holding and she told me all that happened with her and the guy from Spain that the Spain guy was responsible, i was very shocked and she was crying, she said all she wanted from her boyfriend was shelter for sometime until she was able to contact the guy from Spain and tell him of the news but she became stoke with the boyfriend because she was unable to get any means of communication with they guy from Spain so she had no place else to go so the need for her to remain with the boyfriend, i was so dumbfounded to the extend that for some minutes i couldn't say a word because this was what i thought only happen in movies and i was seeing it live, so my question was what do you want to do now and she said she was from a poor home and she wanted her child to have a good life unlike her so that was why she deliberately got pregnant for the guy from Spain and i was angry with her at first but i later calmed down because she wanted my help as i was the first and the only person she had and was telling this to.

I offered to help her locate the guy from Spain because i knew some of his friends that came visiting him when he was a guest with us, so i set out to look for them and i saw one of them about 2 weeks later, i told him what i had heard and he said he was aware of the affair and offered to help located the guy's family house so that we can go tell them, he said if the family can be informed the guy will be informed too wherever he was. So i called the girl and told her of the news and she was So happy, i arranged a meeting between her and the guy's friend and he followed her and showed her the house, i decided not to go with her because i didn't want to be caught in the middle of it all so she went alone and after the meeting with they guy's parents she came crying because those people rejected her and called her names, they said she didn't come looking for them at first and that she went and stay with another man and they said as "binis" it was an abomination so she and the child was rejected, don't forget that at this time the boyfriend was still not aware of what was going on because i decided to keep quite and help her out.

She can back and told me all that had happened and i told her to see the bright side of it all that the most important thing was that the family is now aware that the guy also will be aware sooner or later so she went back home to her boyfriend who was still taking care of both her and the child, this happened for almost another year or so and last year she called and was crying, she said the boyfriend had found out that he was not the father of the child, how come i asked and she said the baby became ill and on getting to the hospital he needed blood and after checking the man's blood they found out that he was not the father of the child then she had to run for her life and that she had relocated to the village to stay with her parents and that her parents where not even giving her a safe landing too as they where ashamed of her and that they want her out, so i advised her to go back to the rightful father's family house so that they know she was serious and that if need be that she should offer to leave their child with them and walk away for the benefit of the child because i knew she was not capable of taking care of that child on her own, instead she went there and was demanding for the opposite, it wasn't too long i realised what she was doing, i realised she wasn't concerned about the family's acceptance of the child, she want to be accepted as well so she is using the child as a bait to get the guy who lives in Spain, she dreams that one day he will come back and marry her, i got annoyed and hated being used so i abandoned her on it as well.

She called me some few weeks back and told me she is still in the village with the child.

Why did i put this into writing? You know sometimes we have to keep people's secrets, good or bad, is it okay to keep those secrets when we know someone else is suffering because of it? Was i playing a good friend and a bad person the same time? should i have informed the boyfriend that the baby was not his? How will you rate my contribution in this story. All said, sometimes i think about it and i am happy the truth is finally out.

How to lose weight

More than one-third of adults in the United States are obese. In fact, the furor over obesity, which some have termed an “epidemic,” has reached such proportions that one big-city mayor has gone about banning large-sized, sugary soft drinks and the First Lady has been on a crusade to control the dietary offerings in public schools.

Even many adults who do not fit the clinic definition of obese are still overweight, and a large percentage are looking for the best ways to lose weight.

Shedding pounds largely comes down to the two-pronged factors of diet and exercise. Not modifying the first one enough, and not getting enough of the second one, ends up giving the individual a recipe for being overweight.

Conditions related to obesity include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Counseling someone to eat less and exercise more might be the simplest advice possible, but it’s also, partially, an oversimplification. When it comes to diet, no one needs to starve themselves in order to lose weight. It has more to do with the types of food you eat than how much you eat.

Reduce the amount of red meat in your diet. If you don’t want to eliminate red meat altogether, choose cuts of meat with less fat content. Limit your intake of salt and starches. If you’ve got to have potato chips alongside your sandwich at lunch, opt for the baked potato chips that are less greasy and contain less fat than the deep-fried chips. You might find you’re really not sacrificing that much in terms of taste.

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, egg whites, skinless poultry, fish and nonfat dairy products will certainly aid in the mission of losing weight. Drink more water and less sugary drinks. If you have to have a soda, a diet soda is a better option, but seltzer is an even better choice than that.

In terms of exercise, it’s important—if not always easy—to make sure you get at least some physical activity each and every day. Cardio and strength training burn lots of calories. If your feet or your stamina level won’t allow for a regular jogging regimen, then make sure you take lots of walks. Next time you need to mail a letter, walk to the mailbox instead of driving. Try to work in a daily walk in your neighborhood. And if you intend on more rigorous, formal exercising at the gym or fitness center, be sure to pace yourself and don’t build up to an overly ambitious workout agenda too quickly.

There are thousands of diet fads among us.  However, sometimes the best advice is common sense.  Work towards a healthy diet and integrate regular exercise.  You would be surprised at the results small changes can make.
