I Am A Prostitute And I Am Now Dating One Of My Clients, But I Think He Is Ashamed Of Me

I’m dating a man 18 years older than me. He’s been very good to me. I love him so much!! And I know he loves me. But, I’m confused about knowing whether or not if he sees me as long term or short term. First off, I met him on an escorting site, (Yes, I did escort because I was desperate in finding a job). But, as I was leaving the industry, telling him I’m moving to another state and get my life together, he offered to come to see me.

He paid me for the first few visits, until I caught feelings for him and didn’t want to accept his money. Now, it’s a year later. We’ve still been seeing each other, and we’ve gotten sort of serious. He feels very strongly about me seeing other people due to it being called cheating! So, we are in a relationship. I’ve met his close friends but not his mom and daughter (he is divorced). And, he hasn’t met mine yet either. I’ve asked him about being introduced to his mom and daughter, and he said he would, but when it came down to it he reneged on it.

I love him so much, but I don’t want to waste my time. I’m on my feet now. I have a good job. But, I just want to know from a man’s perspective how would you view me? Is he ashamed of me? I’m so confused.

Photo of the day: Lagos leaving Nigeria behind! Lol

This is a photo of the Lagos State Government's ten-lane Lagos-Badagry Expressway and railway line. Erm...yeah, people are already trading on the rail tracks. Lol.

The Lagos –Badagry expressway is a Federal Government road which is currently being expanded to 10 lanes to accommodate a BRT lane and light rail through collaborative efforts of the state govt, the federal govt and international financial agencies.

Julius Berger is handling the 10 lane road segment while China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), is handling the Light Rail section of the road.

$US450 million Powerball jackpot winner wants old life back

“WILD” Willie Seeley’s life changed forever last month when he won a share in a Powerball jackpot worth $US450 million.

Now, the former warehouse manager wishes he could “disappear”.

Seeley and 15 co-workers from a New Jersey garage instantly became the envy of millions when they scooped the whopping win back in August. But merely a month after being thrust into the spotlight, a weary Willie and Donna say they are wishing for their old lives back. “There are days I wish we were back to just getting paid every two weeks,” he said in one of his few interviews since finding fame, NBC News reported.

You have to change your whole way of life, but we didn’t want to change the way we lived. We liked the way we lived.” Willie admitted he still doesn’t feel like a rich bloke: “I get cheap attacks ... It’s when you look at something you need, and think: Hell, I can’t afford that.”

The pair has turned down a number of reality TV offers from the likes of National Geographic, A & E and Ryan Seacrest Productions, and still, the phone continues to ring. They’ve also endured a never-ending procession of moochers, including complete strangers claiming to be relatives.

Donna even went so far as to call their winnings “the curse”, and the private pair say they are relieved to be handing the limelight over to the winner of last week’s $US400 million Powerball pot

Willie’s share of the $US450 million pot was divided by two other winning tickets, and then further divided by his 15 co-workers. After taxes his share was less than $US4 million, which he says “ain’t s*** in today’s economy.”

Yet, it was enough for the couple to quit their jobs, pay cash for two shiny new vehicles, re-roof their house, pay the mortgage off and provide financial assistance to family members.

And what’s the last thing he did with the leftover cash? He purchased a remote cabin out of town where he and his wife can escape the hype and the mounting number of “long-lost relatives”.

The 3 Types Of Ladies That Nigerian Men Will Quickly Notice

1. The woman with the nicest body. If your stomach sticks out further than your breasts, or your butt, you have automatically been disqualified. That is not attractive. The winner will always be the woman who is fit/thin with either a large and perky butt, or very large br3asts. If the woman is blessed to have both a large butt and large br3ast on a fit/thin frame, she will triumph over the rest of the women.

2. The most stylish woman. Ladies, please be careful with the way you dress. There are ways to dress for attention that will still show people that you are a very respectable woman. Remember, when you are in a group of women your main goal is to be the FIRST one to catch the man’s eye.

You have to be the first to stand out, if you are not the first to stand out, another woman’s ONE eye catching quality will outshine all that you have to offer. Make sure you are dressed nice from head to toe. Also, dress in BRIGHT colors. Men are like dogs, when they see bright clothing, or shiny jewelry, it will catch their eye. That’s what you need, once you catch eye, it’s up to you to make it work.

3. The quiet one. If you are outshined in dressing, if you are outshined in beauty, if you are outshined in body type, you have to use your WIT. You may think that the best way would be to open your mouth, and try and over talk everyone else to make sure that you get attention. Sure, you’ll get attention, but I guarantee you it will not be the kind of attention that you want.

When you are quiet, and I mean QUIET. Say NOTHING. When the guys are talking to your friends. Act uninterested. Make sure you stay around the group. But act uninterested, use your eyes to catch eye contact with the man you find interesting. But have BLANK stare. In fact, catch his eye.

Blink once or twice, with an expressionless face. And I PROMISE you, he will be curious about you. Say NOTHING. Your strength is in your mystery. Everyone will want to know about you. Because you have not readily displayed yourself. Remember, your strength is in your MYSTERY. He’ll know you’re thinking something.

He won’t know WHAT. He won’t know if you are judging him. He won’t know if you are admiring him. It is important to keep your expression BLANK. Make sure that he cannot read your emotions. Practice this in the mirror before attempting to use this tactic.

My question is, guys, is this all true?!

LADIES ONLY!!MUST READ: Men With Smaller Testicles Are Better Fathers - Research

According to a new research, men with small testicles are better parents. Researchers found that fathers with smaller testicles are more likely to be involved in child care. Previous studies have also suggested that decreases in testosterone may suppress mating efforts, potentially channeling a man’s energy toward the care of infants. Odd research, what do you think?

Jonathan Speaks With His Enemy, Saraha Reporters [VIDEO]

I bet this chat could not have taken place in Nigeria as the SSS or other state actors would have arrested this beautiful lady for daring to work with Jonathan's media enemy, Sahara Reporters. Watch the video to see the drama that unfolded between she and "Our President" on the streets of New York.

Describe This Picture In One Word!!!

'You’re a very bad man' how 4yr old confronted Kenyan mall gunman who gave him chocolate & begged for forgiveness

A four-year-old British boy caught up in the Kenya mall massacre showed astonishing bravery by confronting a marauding gunman who ended up begging for his forgiveness, UK Daily Mail reports.

Elliot Prior, from Windsor, Berkshire, told one of the terrorists that he was a 'very bad man' as he protected his mother, Amber, who had been shot in the leg, and six-year-old sister Amelie. Incredibly, the attacker took pity on the family and bizarrely handed the children Mars bars before telling them: 'Please forgive me, we are not monsters.'

His story emerged as sporadic gunfire continued to ring out from inside the mall early today as Kenyan security forces battled Al Qaeda-linked terrorists into a fourth day.

Despite Kenyan police assurances that they had taken control of the building, a security expert with contacts inside the mall said at least 10 hostages were still being held by a band of attackers, possibly as many as 13.

(Picture above) 4 year old Elliot and his sister Amelie hold Mars bars next to a dead body outside the Westgate mall after being given the chocolate by a gunman who spared their lives. Continue..
Kenya's foreign minister Amina Mohamed said 'two or three' Americans and one British woman were among those who attacked the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi.

His mother, Amber, told of her family’s terrifying escape from Al Shabaab terrorists who butchered 62 people in the Nairobi shopping centre.

The film producer had been queuing to buy milk in Nairobi's westgate Shopping Centre when the militants struck.

She hid under a cold meat counter in the Nakumatt supermarket for an hour-and-a-half with her children beneath her before terrorists finally found them and shot her in the thigh.
Elliot's uncle, Alex Coutts, told The Sun: 'They had a lucky escape. The terrorists said if any of the kids were alive in the supermarket they could leave. 'Amber made the decision to stand up and say "yes".'
'Then Elliot started arguing with them and called them bad men. He was very brave.'

After discovering the advertising producer was of French origin, the men began to plead with her and claimed that the Muslim faith ‘was not a bad one’.‘He told me I had to change my religion to Islam and said “do you forgive us? Do you forgive us?’, the mother told The Independent.
‘Naturally, I was going to say whatever they wanted and they let us go’.

Bizarrely, the terrorists handed the children Mars bars before they fled with two other children, including a 12-year-old boy who had at first refused to leave his dead mother.

The fate of 20 others who had taken refuge under the meat counter is unknown.
The family’s escape is particularly astonishing in light of the indiscriminate slaughter of men, women and children throughout the mall after Al Shabaab launched their assault on Saturday.

ASUU STRIKE: Group Drags Union To Court

THE strike action embarked upon by university lecturers has assumed another dimension as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been dragged before the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) over the lingering strike action.

The suit, with the number NICW/Abj/242/2013 which also has ministers of labour and productivity, education, finance and justice, as well as secretary to the government of the federation as defendants, was instituted by the registered trustees of Golden Women of Integrity and Vision Association and Mrs. Florence Uche Ojieh.

In the suit, the claimants are asking the court to determine whether the strike action embarked upon by ASUU is not illegal and contrary to law and whether members of the union are not bound by the policy of ‘no work no pay’ and therefore not entitled to their salary during the period of the strike.

They also asked the court to determine whether members of ASUU are entitled to continue to retain their employment, having abandoned or deemed to have abandoned their work in the universities; whether or not the union complied with the mandatory provisions of Section 4 and 5 of the Trade Dispute Act CAP T8 LFN 2004 before embarking on the strike; whether the union has complied with the provision of Section 8 of the Trade Disputes Act CAP T8 LFN 2004; whether or not the minister of education is not entitled to determine the employment of the union, same having abandoned or deemed to have abandoned their work in their universities and whether or not the doctrine of collective bargain or the purported 2009 agreement can be the basis for the strike action by ASUU same not having been incorporated in their contract of employment between it and the federal government.

The reliefs sought by the claimants include a declaration that the strike action embarked upon by ASUU since July 2, 2013 is illegal, unconstitutional, null and void.

Other reliefs are an order of mandatory injunction directing the union to go back to work immediately and unconditionally; an order directing the union to return or refund all monies paid to it by the federal government in error or otherwise; an order directing ASUU to return to the negotiation table and a declaration that the strike action is illegal, unconstitutional, null and void.

VIDEO: A Player Scores Goal with His Private Part

One of the most original and, lets say ‘erotic’, goals has been scored in France during the football match between AS Groville and FC Mufflins.

FC Mufflins scored the goal by hitting the ball with his private part, which undoubtedly hurt like hell.

After a collision with a rival, the shorts of FC Mufflins forward went down, almost to the level of his knees. However the player decided not to waste time for getting his outfit back to normal and resumed playing. A few moments later he was able to score a crazy goal.

The referee approved the goal which sparked serious protests from the side of AS Groville team. It’s players have staged a naked protest right on the field.

CONFIRMED: Arsenal Signs 19-Year-Old Nigerian Defender

English Premier League football club Arsenal have confirmed the news of signing young Nigerian defender, Semi Ajayi. The 19-year-old centre-back has joined the club on a permanent basis after impressing on a trial.

Ajayi came through the youth ranks at Charlton Atheltic before being released at the end of last season.

After a brief spell with Norwich in pre-season, he was handed a trial by Arsenal in the summer and following two excellent displays for the Under-21, the player confirmed on Twitter last week that he had signed a two-year deal at the Emirates.
Arsenal finally officially announced the deal yesterday on the club's website: "Semi Ajayi has joined the Arsenal Academy after impressing as a trialist with the Club."

Ajayi had already represented Nigeria at youth level, but is still eligible to play for England as he was born in Crayford.

Falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho: Players

Juan Mata - cost £23.5m
Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year and the club’s Player of the Year for the second successive season, Mata could not have had a better season before Mourinho’s arrival. Now he cannot force his way into the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Iker Casillas - cost N/A
Once described by Mourinho as the best in the world, Casillas (pictured) was cast aside at Real Madrid by the Portuguese coach. Casillas reportedly fell out with Mourinho because he helped calm tensions between Spanish internationals at his club and at Barcelona after a series of fiery contests.
Picture: REUTERS

Sergio Ramos - cost £18m
According to reports, Ramos and Casillas issued an ultimatum to the club threatening to demand transfers if Mourinho was not removed from his post at the end of last season.

Pepe - cost £20m
Pepe was perhaps Mourinho’s greatest ally, but that changed after the Portugal defender expressed regret at the way the coach dropped Casillas. Mourinho then hit back, claiming Pepe's criticism of his management stemmed from the defender's frustration at losing his place to 20-year-old Raphaël Varane.

Kaka - cost £56m
The Brazilian midfielder was a bench player who was rarely called upon by Mourinho. Since his transfer back to AC Milan, Kaka said: "It wasn't Mourinho's fault that I didn't get to play. I tried to earn his confidence over the years but he just had other ideas."

Cristiano Ronaldo - cost £80m
Mourinho claimed his compatriot "maybe thinks that he knows everything and that the coach cannot improve him any more." The coach also claimed the "real Ronaldo" was the former Brazil striker.

Manchester United missed out on Gareth Bale after submitting bid, says Real Madrid president

Manchester United missed out on signing Gareth Bale after submitting a bid earlier this summer, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed.
The 24-year-old moved to Real from Tottenham earlier this month for 100million euros (£85.3million) after negotiations that lasted the entire summer transfer window.

But Perez has revealed the Spaniards were not the only club that tried to sign the Welshman, with Manchester United also submitting an offer.

While Bale eventually moved to Madrid for a world-record fee, Perez insists the club did not pay over the odds.

"Bale has come cheaply," he said. "Signing the best players out there is Madrid's philosophy and Bale was the best available player on the market this summer. We had been following him for two years.

"Tottenham did not want to sell. We learned that Manchester United had made an offer and we made one ourselves."

There's No €50m Difference Between Gareth Bale & Mesut Ozil'

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann insists that the difference between Mesut Ozil and Gareth Bale is not worth €50 million

Bale's world-record £86m move from Tottenham in the summer transfer, paved the way for Ozil's move to Arsenal in a £42m deal.

Lehmann believes that Arsenal's acquisition of the German midfielder is of better value, he added by saying the Madrid's inflated prices dictate the high transfer fees paid elsewhere.

"In all honesty, Arsenal paid too much for Mesut Ozil, but that’s because Gareth Bale went to Real Madrid for so much more money. Nobody is worth that much," Lehmann told Spox.

"The Ozil deal was much better. I don’t see a €50m difference between the two players. That’s how that market works when a club like Real Madrid loses the plot."

Ozil already has four assists in the Premier League this season, and contributed in the three goals Arsenal scored against Stoke as the Gunners moved to the top of the table.

Bedroom Food Matters A Lot! When You Give Your Husband Well, No Woman Can Snatch Him- Aisha Falode

Aisha Falode became very popular few years ago when she started a sports programme on AIT. It is a job that most women do not go into, so it made her very famous. Aside sports, Aisha is into something else now, home management. A journalist asked her how a woman can keep a man, and here is what she said;  If you talk to 10 men, 90.9 per cent of them, that is almost a 100 per cent, will tell you that what goes on in the bedroom is much more important than what is in the plate on the table. Talk to them. That is what they go after when they go after girlfriends. The girlfriends don’t cook for them. It is what they do with these men that take the men to them. Let’s don’t pretend as women. Please continue...

Be creative. ‘Daddy, it’s me and you tonight.’ Recreate that old time and they will enjoy it. Even when they are in the process of straying, they remember that my wife can give me what I want. Even if they want to, they are held back because the woman is fantastic, and they are wondering why they are wasting their time with these small, small girls. Forget about food. Although it is also important, those people they are going out to see are not cooking for them. That is the truth. Let’s be frank about it. Perhaps, if I was as matured as I am when I got married, I could keep my home. But I wasn’t mature. If I get a second chance today, God help the lady that will come and take my place. She will have to toil for it.

This is the time for women to wake up. Keep your relationship. Keep your man, whatever it takes. What is it that he is going to look for outside? I will give him double at home. This is what men want. We brought them to the programme on how to sustain your marriage, and they told us verbatim. Forget about the food. It is the food in the bedroom that is more important. Maybe in the days of our mothers, you know they were traditionalists, they were not adventurous.

Kenyan massacre: Body of white woman terrorist found at scene after final assault

Has British 'White Widow' Samantha Lewthwaite, suspected to be the leader of the Islamic terrorists that attacked Westgate mall in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday September 21st, been killed?

It was claimed yesterday that the terror attack in Kenya was being led by Samantha, the widow of one of the 7/7 bombers, Jermaine Lindsay, who with 3 others killed 52 people in a series of co-ordinated suicide attacks in London using the public transport system during the morning rush hour in 2005.

Soldiers said a white woman wearing a veil was shouting orders to gunmen in Arabic during the bloody massacre inside the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi on Saturday. Samantha may have been killed today as a dead white woman was found among Islamic terrorists killed by soldiers as they stormed the mall this evening. Kenyan authorities haven't confirmed that the woman is really Samantha. Her name was first linked to the attack after Al Shabaab praised her on their Twitter account for leading the attack at Westgate mall.

Moments after the news of Samantha's demise broke, Al Shabaab, took to Twitter to claim that she's safe. Eleven soldiers were also wounded in the fight with the terrorists this evening. Kenyan police said that more than 200 civilians were rescued as troops took control of all the floors of the mall.

Kenya: 'If You Were Muslim They Let You Go'

Witnesses to the attack on a shopping centre in Nairobi say gunmen executed anyone who could not recite an Islamic prayer.

Ms Ahmed said the attackers released people who were able to prove they could speak Arabic. "I witnessed a few people get up and say something in Arabic and the gunmen let them go. "A colleague of mine said he was Muslim and recited something in Arabic and they let him go as well.

How true is this religion of peace?

Is religion the worst thing to happen to mankind?

Pope Francis has rejected the discarding of “defenseless” human persons through abortion.

Every unborn child, although unjustly condemned to be aborted, has the face of Jesus Christ, the Lord’s face,” Pope Francis said, adding that like Christ, these aborted children experience the rejection of the world.

The Holy Father asked doctors “who are called to take care of human life in its initial phase” to remind people that “in all its phases and at any age, human life is always sacred.” With this understanding of the human person, he challenged the doctors present to “be witnesses and speakers of this ‘culture of life,’” helping the contemporary culture to recognize “the transcendent dimension” of human life from “the moment of conception.

ASUU/FG face-off: Where are the elders?

Written constitutions which set boundaries beyond which individuals and bodies may not go are alien to African, particularly, Nigerian, communities. In Nigeria where we are more of our brothers’ keepers than in the western communities, no impasse is allowed to lie unresolved without intervention by others, especially elders.

Where are our elders that an impasse between ASUU and the Federal Government has lasted now for three months? Where are our elders that the young, in this case, ASUU is crying over a denial of what is due to it as proved by the existence of signed, sealed and delivered agreements of over three years old by an incumbent government?

By elders I mean any of the following:-
1. The National Council of State:
Here is a prominent organ that has among others eminent Nigerians who are currently and variously involved in resolving crises all over the world. Some of them are involved in monitoring and resolving election crises outside our boundaries, some resolving problems caused by guinea worm, some establishing universities and mega-scale companies and successfully piloting them. Where is the National Council of State, and why has is not called the ASUU-Federal government imbroglio to order?

2. The Council of Chiefs/Traditional Rulers:-
This may not exist under this, or any other name, but nonetheless there exist traditional rulers in this country. In each state they are bound together under the name council of chiefs and they have a president in each state. What prevents all the presidents (36 extra-eminent fathers of the land) from coming together and strongly advising the Federal Government to look into this lingering crisis and to bring it to a halt?

3. The Council of Religious Leaders.
Again there may not be a body under this name but we have CAN¬¬¬ - the Christian Association of Nigeria, we have the Jamma’atu Nasril Islam. What are our religious leaders doing or not doing in face of the ASUU-Federal government face-off? Among other things, what earnest and fervent prayer (of the righteous which availeth much) are they not offering to halt this impasse that has lasted two months and beyond what is tolerable?

4. The National Council of Women Societies, Nigeria:
Most pertinent as far as this issue is concerned, is the National Association of Women Societies. The NCWS is not only the mother of the children whose future is being trifled with and threatened; the NCWS is the mother of the nation. I recall there was a time the women of this nation threatened to match stark naked if certain conditions were not met. I dare say, this is one such time.

5. By elders, finally, I mean the forum of this and forum of that which exist in this country, as well as the Board of Trustees of the party in power. We have the forum of Governors (although now saddled with its own problems). This type of forum which is the first-line form of stakeholders in the education industry should have a commanding voice in an issue such as this. Finally, the Board of Trustees of the party is government should, even if it, surreptitiously, parley with ASUU and advise the government accordingly.
In conclusion, for an agreement which is said to exist and not under negotiation, for a 21st century problem, a century in which many crisis resolution mechanisms exist, this crisis has been allowed to last too long. If constitutional bodies cannot solve it, we plead for extra-constitutional bodies to wade in as this method is very Nigerian.

ASUU Strike latest: VP Sambo takes over government’s negotiation

Vice President Namadi Sambo

ASUU has been on strike since June 30.

The Vice President Namadi Sambo has, in a bid to end the continuous gridlock in the dialogue between the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and federal government, taken over the negotiation process. The government’s negotiation team was formerly headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim. For the first time since the commencement of the over 10-week-old strike action by the union, the Vice President met with the leadership of the union at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
The meeting was held behind closed doors.

Nigerian Universities have been shut down since June 30 as a result of federal government’s failure to honour an agreement signed between it and ASUU in 2009 bothering on issues of university funding and improvement of infrastructure in the sector. Speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa after the closed door meeting, the ASUU President, Nasir Fagge, said that he was taking back a “message given to him at the meeting for his members” and that Nigerians would have to wait for the response of his members on the way forward. “We have had a meeting with the Vice President and he has given us a message to our members, and we said that as the messengers that we are, we are going to deliver the message faithfully to our members and then they will take the decision.” According to him, “I know Nigerians are expecting a solution to the strike, we also want a solution, but I have been given a message to our members. The message is not for Nigerians, it is for our members”. “If I deliver the message, our principal will decide and we will get back to the ministry of education within this week,” he added, saying the union would get back to the education minister on its stance on the government’s latest offer.

The federal government had offered N100 billion and N30 billion for infrastructure development in various universities and payment of verified earned allowances of lecturers respectively. It is not clear if the government made an improved offer for the lecturers whose only demand is that government implements fully the 2009 agreement. The Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, who was also at the meeting, explained that the meeting had been convened to find a lasting solution to the crisis. “One is quit hopeful that ASUU is committed, they have the passion and that there is the need for us to move the education sector forward. “ASUU coming to discuss means that they are committed on their own part and that the federal government is also committed. We have gone very far, we believe that in no distance time, you will have a very good result,” he said.  Also on the ASUU delegation were two former Presidents of ASUU, Dipo Fasina and Abdullahi Sule-Kano.

Other members of the government’s delegation included the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Julius Okojie; as well as the Vice Chancellors of Bayero University Kano (BUK), University of Ibadan (UI) and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Abdulrasheed Abubakar, Isaac Adewole, and Muhammed Muhammed respectively.

Death toll from Boko Haram attack rises to 143: Nigerian official

MAIDUGURI- The death toll from an Islamist militant assault on travellers along a road in northeast Nigeria has risen to 143, an official from the local branch of the Environmental Protection Agency said on Friday.

In the attack on Tuesday, Boko Haram militants wearing military uniforms stopped traffic on a highway between the cities of Maiduguri and Damaturu, dragging people out of their vehicles and killing them, witnesses and security sources said. The initial toll was given as more than 20.

"We have been picking corpses off the roadsides all day, there are more in the bush, they are all travellers shot at or slaughtered by Boko Haram gunmen who attacked on Tuesday night. We have so far picked up 143 corpses," the official, Abdulazeez Kolomi, said.

Pope criticises emphasis on social issues

SIGNALING a dramatic shift in Vatican tone, Pope Francis has said the Catholic Church has become obsessed by "small-minded rules" about how to be faithful.

He says pastors should instead emphasise compassion over condemnation when discussing divisive social issues of abortion, gays and contraception.

The pope's remarkably blunt message six months into his papacy is sure to reverberate around the globe as bishops who have focused much of their preaching on such hot-button issues are asked to act more as pastors of wounded souls.

In interviews published Thursday in Jesuit journals in 16 countries, Francis said he had been "reprimanded" for not pressing church opposition to abortion in his papacy.

But he said "it is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time".

"The church's pastoral ministry cannot be obsessed with the transmission of a disjointed multitude of doctrines to be imposed insistently," Francis said.

"We have to find a new balance; otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel," the pope said in the 12,000-word article.

The article was based on interviews conducted by a fellow Jesuit, the Rev Antonio Spadaro, editor of La Civilta Cattolica, a Rome journal for the religious order.

"The church sometimes has locked itself up in small things, in small-minded rules," Francis said.

"The most important thing is the first proclamation: Jesus Christ has saved you. And the ministers of the church must be ministers of mercy above all."

The comments contained no change in church teaching, and the pope said reform should not happen quickly.

Still, it was the pope's clearest declaration yet of a break in tone and style from his immediate predecessors.
